Light Emitting Diode (LED) adalah sebuah dioda yang dapat mengeluarkan sinar atau cahay apabila diberi sebuah tegangan. Light Emitting Diode (LED) biasanya berfungsi sebagai lampu indikator atau lampu isyarat, Light Emitting Diode (LED) juga biasanya di gunakan untuk lampu-lampu hias. Led memiliki berbagai macam warna diantaranya warna : warna rnerah, hijau, kuning, dan putih. Dalam iImu Elektronika Light Emitting Diode (LED) sering di gunakan sebagai indikator, baik indikator tegangan, input, output ataupun yang lainya.

Pada gambar di samping dapat kita lihat sebuah contoh Light Emitting Diode (LED) beserta dengan simbolnya. Pada sebuah Light Emitting Diode (LED) memiliki dua buah kaki polaritas yaitu polaritas positive dan polaritas negative. Pada Light Emitting Diode (LED) yang bisa berganti warna biasanya memiliki 3 kaki polaritas yaitu polaritas postive 1, polaritas postive 2 dan polaritas negative. Terjadinya perbedaan warna pada sebuah Light Emitting Diode (LED) di karenakan memiliki nilai hambatan atau resistansi yang berbeda. Hal ini yang kemudian mengakibatkan terjadinya perubahan voltage pada sebuah Light Emitting Diode (LED).
